TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (seminoles.com) — Florida State, which shot a near school-record .707 shooting percentage from the field in its 105-73 victory over NC State, plays host to North Carolina on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 12 Noon at the Donald L. Tucker Center in Tallahassee. The Seminoles defeated the Wolfpack following a 15-day layoff as they had three games (Duke at home, at Syracuse and at Pittsburgh) postponed. Florida State’s game against North Carolina is its first of two scheduled for the 2021 regular season with the Seminoles traveling to play in Chapel Hill on February 27. Following Saturday’s game against North Carolina, the Seminoles travel to play at Louisville on Monday in a game that begins at 7:00 p.m. at the KFC YUM! Center. Florida State will look to earn their second victory of the season over a nationally ranked team when they face the Cardinals. The Seminoles defeated No. 25 Florida (83-71, December 12) earlier this season in Tallahassee.

Florida State shot .707 percent from the field (41 of 58), .667 percent from the 3-point line (12 of 18) and were perfect (11 of 11) from the free throw line in defeating NC State by a 105-73 margin on Wednesday night in Tallahassee. The Seminoles’ shooting percentage from the field (.707) ranks sixth in school history and is the highest field goal shooting percentage in an ACC game in school history. Florida State’s shooting percentage from the 3-point line (.667) was also the sixth highest in school history and tied for second in school history in an ACC games. The Seminoles were perfect from the free throw line (11 of 11) on 10 or more shots for the third time in their ACC history.

Florida State’s Leonard Hamilton, who has won nearly 600 games and who is the fifth all-time winningest coach in ACC history, was named as an eligible candidate for the Naismith Hall of Fame Class of 2021. Hamilton highlights the list of four first time coaching candidates including Ken Anderson (Wisconsin-Eau Claire), Lou Henson (Hardin-Simmons, New Mexico State, Illinois) and Paul Westhead (NBA and college). Hamilton has been named as the National Coach of the Year four times and by four different national governing bodies. He was named the Clarence “Big House” Gaines National Coach of the Year in 2018, the Basketball Times Coach of the Year in 2009, the BCA National Coach of the Year in 2000 and the UPI National Coach of the Year in 1995. Hamilton has also been named the ACC Coach of the Year three times (2009, 2012 and 2020) and the Big East Coach of the Year twice (1995 and 1999).
