TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (seminoles.com) — Florida State, which has won eight of its last nine games and which is currently in first place in the ACC, travels to play at Miami on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at the Watsco Center in Coral Gables, Fla. The Seminoles and the Hurricanes are meeting for the second time this season. Florida State defeated Miami, 81-59, in Tallahassee on January 27, 2021. The Seminoles are in the midst of a three-game road swing that began in Pittsburgh (won, 79-82), continues at Miami and comes to an end in Chapel Hill on Saturday against North Carolina.
SEMINOLES’ HAMILTON NAMED TO NAISMITH NATIONAL COACH OF THE YEAR WATCH LIST
Florida State Head Coach Leonard Hamilton, who has led the Seminoles to a 13-3 overall record and a 9-2 mark in ACC play, has been named to the Late Season Watch List for the Werner Ladder Naismith National Coach of the Year. Hamilton is a candidate for the National Coach of the Year Award for the second consecutive season. He is one of two ACC coaches on the list. Hamilton and his staff have guided the Seminoles to a No. 11 national ranking just one season after losing three players to the NBA and a fourth who is enjoying a significant career as a professional player in Europe. Gone from last season’s ACC Championship and NCAA Championship favorite are Patrick Williams (No. 4 overall pick of the Chicago Bulls in the 2021 NBA Draft), Devin Vassell (No. 11 overall pick of the San Antonio Spurs), Trent Forrest (a free agent signee who is currently earning playing with the Utah Jazz) and Dominik Olejniczak (currently averaging a double double in points and rebounds as a standout in the Polish Basketball League). The Seminoles have a 13-3 overall record with four wins over nationally-ranked teams this season. The Seminoles have earned wins over No. 7 Virginia, No. 20 Clemson, No. 25 Florida and No. 25 Louisville and are tied for the ACC lead with four wins over nationally-ranked teams this season. Florida State has also earned a win over Indiana in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge and has been ranked in the AP and USA Today Polls in 14 of 16 weeks since beginning the season ranked No. 21 in the AP Poll.

Florida State is 38-11 (.776 winning percentage) in ACC regular season play in the last three seasons. The Seminoles’ 38 wins in ACC play are the most in a three-year span in conference play (Metro Conference and ACC) in the history of the program.
FLORIDA STATE ON THE ROAD IN ACC PLAY
Florida State enters Wednesday’s game at Miami looking to win its second consecutive ACC road game after winning at Pittsburgh on Saturday (79-72). The Seminoles are 2-1 in ACC play on the road this season with wins at Louisville and Pittsburgh. Florida State was 6-4 on the road in ACC play during the 2019-20 season and is 8-5 (.615 winning percentage) on the road in ACC play in the last two seasons.
