PITTSBURGH, Pa. (seminoles.com) — No. 16 Florida State, which has won seven of its last eight games, travels to play Pittsburgh at the Peterson Events Center in Pittsburgh, Pa., on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. The Seminoles’ game at Pittsburgh marks the third time this season the games has been scheduled to be played. The game was originally scheduled for January 9 and postponed and then scheduled for February 6 and postponed again. The Seminoles were originally scheduled to play Virginia Tech on Saturday in Tallahassee. That game against the Hokies has been postponed. Florida State arrives in Pittsburgh fresh from its 81-60 victory over No. 6 Virginia on Monday in Tallahassee – the Seminoles’ third victory of the season over a nationally ranked opponent. In the last five season, the Seminoles have won an ACC-high five games against Virginia. Following Saturday’s game at Pittsburgh, the Seminoles will play at Miami on Wednesday, February 24 at 8:30 p.m.
WALKER ENTERS SATURDAY’S GAME AGAINST PITTSBURGH ONLY 7 POINTS FROM 1,000 FOR HIS CAREER
Senior M.J. Walker enters Saturday’s game at Pittsburgh with 993 career points and needs only seven points to become the 47th member of the Seminoles’ 1,000 career-point club. He scored 17 points on five of six made 3-point field goals in the Seminoles’ win over No. 6 Virginia on Monday and is averaging a career-high 13.9 points scored per game through the Seminoles’ first 15 games of the season.
GRAY AND BARNES EARN ACC WEEKLY HONORS
Florida State redshirt junior RaiQuan Gray is the current ACC Player of the Week while Seminole rookie Scottie Barnes is the current ACC Freshman of the Week as announced by the Atlantic Coast Conference. Both Gray and Barnes were instrumental in helping Florida State defeat Wake Forest, 92-85 in overtime, in the Seminoles’ only game last week. It marks the first time in his career that Gray has earned the weekly Player of the Week honor and is the second time Barnes has been tabbed as the ACC Rookie of the Week. Gray scored his career-high of 24 points and pulled down his career-high of 12 rebounds against the Deacons while Barnes scored 13 points, pulled down four rebounds, totaled four assists and two steals and made the biggest basket of the game for the Seminoles – a reverse lay-up with 0.05 seconds remaining — in the second half to send the game into overtime.
