Beach Leaves Baton Rouge with Two Wins on Final Day

Baton Rouge, La. – The fourth-ranked Florida State Seminoles capped off their weekend in Baton Rouge with two wins on Sunday, March 27th. Florida State improved their record to 16-4 following wins over Texas A&M Corpus Christi and Houston Baptist.

FSU 4, TAMUCC 1

The Seminoles came out strong on Sunday morning, defeating Texas A&M Corpus Christi 4-1. Florida State currently leads the all-time series 3-0.

Maddie Anderson and Brook Bauer took court two together for the first time this season. The pair earned the first match point for the Seminoles, defeating TAMUCC 21-6, 21-17.

Shortly after, Jordan Polo and Anna Long earned the next point for the Seminoles, winning 21-9, 21-19.

With the match-clinching point, Kate Privett and Raelyn White improved their record to 13-3 on court five following a 21-11, 21-17 win over TAMUCC.

On court four, Jenna Johnson and Caitlin Moon paired up to defeat TAMUCC 23-21, 21-13. Johnson started every match this weekend after seeing the court only five times earlier in the season.

TAMUCC earned their only match point on court one against Alaina Chacon and Madison Fitzpatrick. The pair competed on court one for the first time this season, dropping a close match to TAMUCC 21-19, 21-18.

FSU 5, Houston Baptist 0

Florida State capped off the weekend with one final win over Houston Baptist. The Seminoles lead Houston Baptist 6-0 in the all-time series.

Madison Fitzpatrick and Alaina Chacon bounced back from their loss this morning and provided an absolute offensive masterclass on court two against HBU. The pair held HBU to only four points in the first set and eight in the second.

On court one, Maddie Anderson and Brook Bauer earned the second match point for the Seminoles. In the first set, the pair trailed for most of the time before coming back to win 24-22. In the second set, Anderson and Bauer took charge, finishing 21-6.

Erin Murphy earned her first career start and win for the Seminoles on court five with partner Raelyn White. The pair held the lead throughout the duration of the match, besting HBU 21-16, 21-11.

On court three, Morgan Chacon and Jordan Polo paired up for the first time this season. The duo won the first set 25-23. They found their rhythm in the second set and sealed the win 21-14.

Anna Long and Caitlin Moon earned the final match point for the Seminoles after going to three sets with HBU. They won the first set 21-15 before HBU forced it to three after winning 21-15 in the second. Long and Moon responded with force, shutting HBU down 15-8 in the final set.

The Seminoles will compete in Jacksonville, Fla. at the North Florida Invite on Friday, April 1st through Saturday, April 2nd. Florida State will take on Pepperdine, Florida Atlantic, UNF, and Georgia State.
