TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The third-ranked Florida State beach volleyball team (22-3) hosts its final home tournament this Friday and Saturday, the Unconquered Invitational. The Seminoles will play four matches across two days with one against No. 15 FIU (19-5), two against No. 17 Stetson (16-9) and one against UNF (17-5).
Florida State will also be celebrating its eight seniors for senior day prior to the 3 pm match on Saturday, April 10th against Stetson.
The Garnet and Gold begin play on Friday, April 9 at 11:30 am against No. 15 FIU. Florida State is 11-2 all-time against FIU. The Seminoles have won all nine matches against Florida International since Brooke Niles has been the head coach.
Day one of the Unconquered Invitational is capped off with FSU’s first of two matches on the weekend against No. 17 Stetson at 4:45 pm. The Seminoles are a perfect 15-0 against Stetson and 4-0 against the Hatters in Tallahassee. The two teams have met twice this season, resulting in a 4-1 and a 5-0 win for FSU. The 5-0 sweep of Stetson was Florida State’s first since 2016.
Florida State plays back-to-back matches on Saturday to finish off the Invitational. FSU faces off against Stetson at 3 pm before playing UNF at 4:45 pm. The Seminoles and the Osprey have met four times, resulting in four FSU wins and three 5-0 sweeps.
Due to the COVID pandemic, attendance will be limited in the facility to no more than 130 spectators. A pass list system has been implemented to ensure staff and student-athlete families will have priority access. In addition to those family members accessing the facility via the pass-list, there will be a limited opportunity for fans to attend on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis until capacity is reached.
Spectators will need to bring their own chairs or blankets to sit on while enjoying the match. While inside the Beach Volleyball complex, spectators will be required to wear a mask at all times. Spectators will be asked to clear the complex at the conclusion of each match so that spectators for the next match will be allowed to enter.
