TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 3 Florida State beach volleyball team (11-4, 6-1 CCSA) comes off an off weekend to welcome No. 14 Arizona (10-2), Austin Peay (4-5) and No. 10 Stetson (9-3) to Tallahassee for the Seminole Beach Battle this Friday and Saturday (March 22-23).
All four teams will face each other once and there will be a pairs tournament to end each day of the Seminole Beach Battle. Each team will have two dual matches on Friday and one dual match on Saturday.
Florida State begins competition on Friday, March 22nd at 10:30 am when they face Arizona. The Noles and Wildcats have met once in program history, resulting in a 3-2 Florida State victory. The first and only time these two teams met was in 2017 when Florida State defeated No. 7 Arizona 3-2 in Hawaii. Florida State jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead before the Wildcats came back to tie the match at 2-2. The Noles clinched the match on court four with a 15-12 third set win by Katie Horton and Francesca Goncalves.
The Garnet and Gold wrap up play on Friday with a match at 1:30 pm against Austin Peay. This will be the first meeting between the two programs. Austin Peay is currently on a four-match win streak after losing their first five matches of the season.
Florida State will take part in one match on Saturday, March 23rd at 11:00 am. The Noles will take on the Stetson Hatters for the 12th time in program history. FSU leads the all-time series 11-0 with a 2-0 record in Tallahassee and six shutouts. Stetson enters the weekend coming off a perfect 4-0 weekend, which included two wins over top-20 opponents. The Hatters ended the weekend with an upset win over No. 10 South Carolina 4-1.
