NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Florida State men’s tennis player Clint Bowles closed out the fall season Friday, November 6, at the ITA National Indoor Championships in New Haven, Conn., on the campus of Yale University.

No. 33 Bowles, a junior from Tampa, Fla., fell in the round of 16 singles play. He lost to No. 1 Oleksandr Nedovyesov of Oklahoma State 7(5)-6, 6-1 at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center.

“It was a great match,” said head coach Dwayne Hultquist. “It was close his first set, I think the biggest point of the set was when Clint was up 4-3 and he hit a really good volley and the guy kind of hit a running backhand winner and that changed the momentum. We ended up losing the tiebreaker from there. I thought Alex (Nedovyesov) served better in the second set. We broke him a few times in the first and in the second he served well.”

Bowles was only the second Seminole to compete in the ITA Indoors. Bowles qualified as the winner of the Southeast Wilson/ITA Regional Championships.

The Seminoles start the spring season January 15 at the Naples Tournament in Naples, Fla.
