Tallahassee, Fla. – For the second time this year, Bryan Henry was recognized by the league office as the senior right hander was named ACC Baseball Pitcher of the Week. Throwing in his final regular season home game in a Seminole uniform, Henry led Florida State to an 11-1 victory over Clemson last Friday night at Mike Martin Field inside Dick Howser Stadium.

The Tallahassee, Fla., native threw eight innings allowing just one Tiger run on eight hits as he won his eighth consecutive ACC game. Henry allowed multiple hits in an inning once, while two of the eight hits went for extra bases. It was the fifth time this season and the third time in the last four games that Henry has pitched into the eighth inning. It was also the ninth time in 15 starts that Henry has allowed a run or less.

Henry struck out eight and did not issue a walk as he threw 98 pitches. He faced no more than four batters in six of the first seven innings and faced just five batters in the eighth.

Henry improved to 13-0 in 15 starts this season while lowering his ERA to 2.47. He became the first Seminole pitcher to post 13 wins in a season since 2003 when Matt Lynch went 13-4. With the victory, Henry moved into a tie with Jon McDonald for eighth place all-time at Florida State with 31 career victories.

This marks the eighth time this season a Seminole student-athlete has been recognized by the conference office, while it’s the third time in four weeks Florida State has garnered ACC Pitcher of the Week accolades. Danny Rosen took home weekly honors last week for his performance in a 3-2 FSU victory over Maryland. Bryan Henry took home weekly honors for the first time this year back on April 23 as he led the Seminoles past the Tar Heels.

This is Henry’s fourth weekly honor of his career. He nows becomes just the second pitcher in FSU history to win ACC Pitcher of the Week honors at least four times joining Paul Wilson who was honored a total of six times in his career, three times each in 1994 and 1995.

Henry and the Seminoles are back in action on Thursday, May 17 in game one of a three-game set at Georgia Tech. It’s the final three-game series of the regular season before the Seminoles head to Jacksonville, Fla. for the 2007 ACC Baseball Tournament.
