TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State’s Dagny Brynjarsdottir was named ACC Co-Player of the Week after leading the second-ranked Seminoles to a 1-1 tie at North Carolina and a 4-0 victory at NC State.
Brynjarsdottir capped off a great week scoring three of FSU’s five goals over a two-match road swing. She notched the only Florida State goal in a 1-1 tie against No. 5 North Carolina and then tied a career-high with a two-goal performance against NC State for her second multi-goal game of the season and sixth of her career.
The senior captain played all 110 minutes against the Tar Heels as she led all players with five shots including three shots on goal in the match. The tie extended FSU’s unbeaten streak to five games over UNC (4-0-1) and three games on Fetzer Field (2-0-1).
On Sunday in Raleigh, Brynjarsdottir once again led all players in the match with five shots as she landed three on frame with two finding the back of the net. FSU’s win over NC State was its 14th in a row over the Wolfpack.
The Icelandic native leads FSU on the year with 27 points and 12 goals. She also became just the third player in Florida State history to accumulate 100 points and 40 goals for her career.
Brynjarsdottir and the Seminoles are back in action on Friday, October 31 at 7 p.m. against Duke inside the Seminole Soccer Complex. It is the final game of the regular season as Florida State will honor its six-member senior class before the start of the match.
