TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Junior defender Gabby Carle was selected as a CoSIDA First Team Academic All-American as announces by the College Sports Information Directors of America on Thursday.

Carle has a 4.0 GPA in Exercise Physiology and started in all 20 matches she played in on the backline of the Florida State defense. Carle registered four points during the 2019 season, coming off of one goal and two assists. Carle was a part of nine Florida State shutouts this season. Her best offensive performance came against Boston College when she recorded both a goal and an assist in FSU’s 5-4 win over the Eagles in their ACC opener.

With a 4.0 GPA, Carle is one of 25 members on the All-Academic team with a 4.0. The 11 members of the first team average a near-perfect GPA of 3.99, with the complete 33-member women’s team averaging a 3.96 GPA.

Carle earns this honor after winning the NCAA Elite 90 award a season ago for having the highest GPA amongst players to reach the 2018 College Cup.
