“The day began even earlier than yesterday: 5:15 Coach called (five minutes before the scheduled wake-up call). Don’t you hate not getting those last few minutes of sleep!

We went to the golf course for breakfast and warm-up. The sun finally came up while I was putting, and then I hit some balls at the range. I was very pleased with the way I was hitting. The wind was calm and I got off to a good start with a birdie on hole No. 1. Around the fifth hole the wind picked up and started to make club selection very difficult. The wind swirled, and it did not stop for the rest of the day. I could not make a putt, or get comfortable over the ball, but I did have a chip-in.

The love-bugs must have slept in this morning…but as Katie and I walked up the fourteenth fairway what did we see in the distance? A giant black cloud of swarming love-bugs! I could not even see my ball and had to back off my approach shot 3 times because they were all over me!

We didn’t see any snakes or alligators…even though Coach Dillman looked on the eighth hole for the 12 footer that was in the fairway during the practice round! After finishing my round I practiced my putting to gain confidence for tomorrow. We then took a short trip to St. Augustine to go to the outlet mall. Tomorrow we get to sleep in!!! I am looking forward to a great day in the afternoon.”
