TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Alaina Chacon was named a preseason All-American by volleyballmag.com Tuesday night.
The junior is coming off of a season in which she went 27-15, playing all of her matches alongside Madison Fitzpatrick. She helped lead the Seminoles to their fourth straight CCSA Championship and an eighth straight trip into the postseason.
Chacon went 14-7 on court one beside Fitzpatrick in 2019 and went 8-5 on court two and 1-0 on court three. The duo qualified for the USAV Beach Championship, where they went 4-3.
She earned a host of awards during her sophomore campaign including DiG Collegiate Volleyball First Team All-American Honors and Second-Team All-American honors from volleyballmag.com. Chacon was named CCSA Pair of the Week twice with Fitzpatrick (March 6 and 26) and was named the AVCA/CollegeBeachVB.com Pair of the Week with Fitzpatrick on March 26 for going 3-0 against Austin Peay, No. 15 Arizona and No. 10 Stetson. Chacon’s 19-9 regular season also earned her First-Team All-CCSA honors.
Chacon currently ranks 23rd all-time at FSU with 29 dual-match wins in two seasons. She is ninth in FSU history with 14 wins on court one.
