2000 RECORD: The 2000 Lady Seminoles got this season off to a quick start, knocking off the first seven-straight opponents to face them. The Garnet and Gold got 2000 started with the annual Florida State Tournament, which turned out to be the perfect platform to show off the new and improved Lady Seminole squad. FSU took its first three games, including a win over Charleston Southern which turned out to be a momentous one. Head coach Dr. Cecile Reynaud notched win-number 600 for her career, as FSU started things off 3-0. The championship match of the Noles’ tournament came against a talented Illinois team. FSU did not let down the fans in Tully Gymnasium, as they continued to dominate their opponents with a 3-0 win over the Illini. FSU played in two more tournaments following the FSU Tourney, falling just short in both of them with losses to Notre Dame and Ball State. Most recently, FSU went on the road to start a difficult ACC schedule. The Tribe fell to 0-2 in the conference after dropping two hard-fought conference matches against Maryland and Virginia. FSU then returned home for the battle of the state of Florida, as the Garnet and Gold hosted UF on the Tully Gym floor. The Seminoles fought to protect their 9-1 record in Tallahassee, but came up just short against the 12th-ranked Gators.
