TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State rookie Alyson Churchill was named the ACC Women’s Freshman of the Week on Wednesday, following her performance at the FSU Invitational on Oct.3 at the Apalachee Regional Park.
Churchill finished in fifth place in the 5K race with a time of 17:04.8, turning in the second-fastest time for the Noles and was the fastest freshman in the field that featured ACC and SEC teams.
“It’s always great to see someone that puts so much into something reap the rewards,” FSU head coach Kelly Phillips said. “She’s been focused on her goals since early June and it really paid off last weekend.”
The Tallahassee native was a part of a pivotal four, five, six showing that lifted the Noles to win the meet title for the first time since 2017 with a total of 38 points.
Churchill, who has been racing at the Apalachee Regional Park since middle school as a local standout turned in her personal best time.
The Seminoles will head to Birmingham, Ala., on Oct. 16 for the UAB Blazer Classic.
