Griff Graves is in his first year at Florida State after working as a volunteer assistant coach at Appalachian State University in the fall of 2016. While at Appalachian State in 2016, he assisted head coach Mike Curcio in leading the Mountaineer women to the Sun Belt Conference Title in cross country. Graves received his USATF Level 1 coaching certificate while running professionally for ZAP Fitness/Reebok for two years after college.
While at ZAP Fitness, Graves qualified for the 2016 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials and finished Top-15 in the 12k, 15k and 20k at the USATF Road Championships. Before ZAP, Graves ran at Syracuse University where he was a part of three team conference championships in the Big East and the ACC. Graves received a medical redshirt and a sixth season in cross country at Syracuse where he was part of a team that finished Top-10 at the NCAA Championships.
Graves is married to Cassie Graves, an FSU women’s operations assistant and a former Syracuse distance runner. They have two dogs, Dixie and Virginia Woof.
