Assistant Coach
  • Florida State Women’s Basketball head coach Sue Semrau announced the addition of JC Carter to the Seminole family on May 4, 2018.
  • Carter brings several years of experience coaching both the men’s and women’s game.
  • Carter was an assistant coach over the last four years at Utah State of the Mountain West Conference.
  • A 2002 Southwest Baptist University graduate, he has become an offensive guru over the years.
  • While with the Aggies program, he oversaw player skill development, ran summer camps and played a big role in recruiting.
  • Under his watch, the 2015-16 season was highlighted by the Aggies ranking in the top half of the Mountain West in every offensive category.
  • Carter has coached many all-conference selections – In his four seasons at Utah State, he helped two players earn Mountain West Freshman of the Year honors in guard Eliza West (2017) and fellow guard Funda Nakkasoglu (2015).
  • Carter spent one season as a men’s assistant coach at John Brown University. He also spent four seasons at his alma mater, Southwest Baptist University, as a men’s assistant coach beginning in 2007 and guided it to the Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletics Association title in 2008.
  • His first head coaching position was with the SBU women’s team for three seasons beginning in 2008.
  • His collegiate playing career started at Angelina College in Lufkin, Texas, then transferred to Stephen F. Austin as a sophomore.
  • Carter finished his remaining two years at SBU in Bolivar, Mo., and earned the Greg Germany 2002 Senior Leadership Award.
  • Carter received his undergraduate degree at SBU in 2002.
  • He is the father of two sons, Landon and Tate.
