TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Commissioner John Swofford announced the All-ACC Men’s Tennis Team Thursday afternoon with two Florida State Seminoles named to the list. Dominic Cotrone was named to the second team while Cristian Gonzalez Mendez was named to the third team. The honorees were determined by a vote of the league’s 12 head coaches.

Eleven ACC institutions had representatives on the All-ACC team. Nine members earned All-ACC recognition for a second time including Cotrone. This is the first year since 2010 that multiple Seminoles have been named to the All-ACC team.

“It was really well deserved for both Dominic and Cristian to make the All-ACC team,” said head coach Dwayne Hultquist. “They’ve both worked really hard on their games and have shown they are two of the better players in the ACC.”

Cotrone, a junior from Bradenton, Fla., was named to the team last season. Cotrone posted a 20-14 record in singles this year while reaching a 15-12 mark playing on court one. He was ranked as high as No. 57 in the nation and was named an alternate to the NCAA Singles Championships later this month.

“It’s a really cool honor to get your name on the plaque at Speicher among so many other players at FSU,” said Cotrone. “I’ve put in a lot of hard work and it’s really paid off. I think the work I’ve put in during the offseason really helped and it showed. It’s going to help me going into the NCAA tournament next week.”

Gonzalez Mendez, a junior from Spain, was named to the team for the first time after posting a 27-8 record this year. He reached as high as No. 65 in the nation after upsetting the No. 48 and 98 players in the nation in March. In the fall he won the Bedford Cup singles title and reached the semifinals of the USTA Clay Court Invitational at Disney.
