Cunningham Heads to Staten Island for New Balance Indoor Grand Prix

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State hurdler Trey Cunningham will have the opportunity to compete against the best of the best in front of a national audience on Sunday at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in Staten Island, N.Y. Cunningham will run the 60m hurdles at 1:41 p.m. with live coverage beginning on NBC at noon.

Cunningham is one of seven athletes in a stacked field in the 60m hurdles. Cunningham holds the world lead in the event after posting a school record and ACC record time of 7.46 last weekend at the Texas Tech Open and has the second-best time among the group right behind world-record holder Grant Holloway (7.29). The field consists of the world’s top three hurdles so far this year (Cunningham, Devon Allen and Daniel Roberts) along with No. 13 Devon Brooks and No. 16 Freddie Crittenden.

“This is weekend will be a tune up for nationals. The field in this race is incredible so the times will be really fast,” Cunningham said. “The atmosphere will play a big part in the performances. When the benchmark for this race is so high, the times have to be fast.”
