TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Trey Cunningham was named the USTFCCCA South Region Track Athlete of the Year Thursday afternoon. This is the second time Cunningham has won the award after he won it in 2020. Cunningham is the only male Nole to win the award.
“We are so proud of Trey. Trey is a great representative of our program, and we are excited to see what he can do in the outdoor season,” Head Coach Bob Braman said.
Cunningham is coming off a national championships season in the 60m hurdles. Cunningham became the Noles first indoor champion since 2014. Cunningham ran a staggering 7.38 in the championship race which was just 0.03 seconds off the collegiate record. Cunningham also won his fifth-straight ACC title in the 60m hurdles. Cunningham is the only athlete in collegiate history to run 7.42 or faster four separate times.
