GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Florida State women’s tennis team wrapped up the 33rd Debbie Southern Furman Fall Classic Sunday afternoon with senior Nandini Das capturing the singles title.
The final day was highlighted by Das competing in the flight seven championship match, ending her weekend undefeated. Das defeated Tenika McGiffin of Tennessee 7-6 (0), 6-4 earning her first fall season singles title to kick off the first event of the year.
Two other Seminoles closed out the third day of competition on a high note as well. Emmanuelle Salas won her match 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 over Mississippi State’s Emma Antonaki and freshman Victoria Allen also pulled out a victory with a win over Eleni Louka of Clemson 7-5, 7-5.
The Garnet and Gold were unable to pull out a victory in the other flights as Petra Hule fell to Duke’s Chloe Beck (6-2, 6-4), Mira Stegman fell 6-2, 7-5 to Dasha Kourkina of Vanderbilt and Andrea Garcia dropped a hard-fought match 7-6 (3), 6-4 to Furman’s Georgia Walker.
Florida State will continue its fall slate Sept. 26-29 at the Oracle ITA Masters in Malibu, Calif.
