Davidson, Helling Set for NCAA Zones

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.  –  Florida State divers Joshua Davidson and Jesco Helling will compete at the 2021 NCAA Zone B Championships at the Greensboro Aquatic Center starting on Sunday.

Davidson will compete in both 1-meter and 3-meter springboard events, while Helling will compete on both springboards and platform, looking to advance to the NCAA Championships back in Greensboro, N.C.

on March 24-27.

The Meet

Both Davidson and Helling were selected by a committee based on their results from competition, invitationals and dual meets throughout the season.

The meet will kick off with men’s 3-meter and will feature 30 divers. The top 18 will advance to finals, with scores carrying over to finals. The top eight divers after finals will qualify for NCAAs.

The 1-meter competition will be held on Monday at 10:30 a.m. with the top 10 advancing to NCAAs.

Helling will dive platform on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m., with the top eight advancing to NCAAs.

The Divers

Senior – Joshua Davidson – Tomball, Texas

  • Finished sixth at the 2021 ACC Championships on 1-meter with a score of 332.20
  • Placed 14th on 3-meter at 318.60
  • Was the ACC Diver of the Week after his performance at the Georgia Invite
  • 3x NCAA Qualifier; 2020 & 2019 All-American

Freshman – Jesco Helling – Dresden, Germany

  • Scored points on all three boards at the ACC Championships
  • Placed 13th on 3-meter (319.25) and platform (293.50) and was also 17th on 1-meter (292.20)
  • Was sixth on 3-meter and platform at the 2020 German Nationals.
