Divers Capture Academic All-District

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.  –  Three Florida State divers were selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) to the 2018-19 Google Could Academic All-District At-Large teams on Thursday.  The honor recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletics and in the classroom.

Junior Cam Thatcher and Joshua Davidson were selected to the men’s district four team, while Ayla Bonniwell was named to the women’s.

“This is a great honor for our divers,” FSU head diving coach John Proctor said. “Our team takes pride in what they do in the pool and in the classroom and they understand what it takes to get the job done. This is a big-time honor considering how many other student-athletes from different sports they’re up against. I am very proud of them.”

District four encompasses NCAA Division I institutions from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. A total of 15 different sports are represented on the at-large men’s and women’s lists for NCAA Division I.

Thatcher, Bonniwell and Davidson advance to the Google Could Academic All-America ballot, where first, second and third team honorees will be announced in June.
