EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (seminoles.com) – Florida State sophomore Amanda Doherty is in a tie for 18th place in the individual standings, and the No. 14 Seminole women’s golf team is in 10th place in the team standings after two rounds of the 2017 ANNIKA Intercollegiate at the Olympic Hills Golf Club.  Doherty carded a 2-over par 74 in the second round and has a two-round total of 145.  She begins play in the final round only three strokes outside of the top-10 of the individual standings.

No. 1 Arkansas maintained its lead in the team standings and holds a four-shot lead over Stanford with 18 holes remaining to be played.  The Razorbacks maintained their lead despite a 1:24 minute lightning delay near the end of the round.  Stanford, Texas, UCLA and Furman round of the top five.  Natalie Srinivasan of Furman shot a 2-under par score of 70 in the second round and is in first place in the individual standings.

Three Seminoles (Morgane Metraux, 78-71, Kim Metraux, 76-75 and Kathleen Sumner, 80-75) improved their scores from the first round of play to the second round.  Florida State improved its team score by six strokes as it carded as many birdies (10) in the second round as it did in the first round (10).

“We got off to a good start, but we just couldn’t finish the job today,” said Head Coach Amy Bond.  “We got exposed in areas of our game that we need to get better at.  We having nothing to lose tomorrow; we need to shoot a good round and find some positives in our play.  Our goal is going to be to shoot the best round of the day.”

Doherty (Atlanta, Ga.) carded a 2-over par score of 74 in the second round.  She continues to play solid golf with 16 of 18 holes scored at par or better with one birdie.  Doherty totaled 15 holes at par including a streak of eight consecutive to finish at 74 or better for the seventh time in eight rounds during the fall season.

Doherty has carded 34 of her 43 career rounds at Florida State at 75 or below and averages 73.86 strokes per round in her 15 career events.

Florida State counted its best score of the second round, a 1-under par 71, from senior Morgane Metraux.  She improved her score by seven strokes and moved up 11 spots in the individual standings and into a tied for 32nd place with her third below par round of the fall season.  Metraux played beautiful golf with 17 of her 18 holes played at par or better with two birdies.  She was even par on her first nine and 1-under par after making the turn.  Metraux carded eight holes at par with one birdie after making the turn to the front side of the course.  The Seminoles began play on hole No. 10 for the second consecutive day.

Metraux (Lausanne, Switzerland) begins play in the final round only three strokes from moving into the top-20 in the individual standings.  She has earned 17 top-20 finishes in the first 33 events of her career.

Senior Kim Metraux (Lausanne, Switzerland) and freshman Kathleen Sumner (Charleston, S.C.) both carded scores of 75 in the second round.  Metraux is now in a tie for 39th place and Sumner is in a tie for tie for 47th place.

Metraux led the Seminoles with four birdies in carding her fifth round at 75 or better this fall.

Sumner shot even par on her second nine with two birdies and five more holes played at par after making the turn.  She improved on the second half of the course after playing her first set of nine holes at 3-over par.

As a team, Florida State counted 10 birdies in the second round of the ANNIKA Intercollegiate to bring its season total to 107.  Bond will donate $10 for each birdie made by one of her players this fall to hurricane relief in the states of Florida and Texas (#birdiesfortxfl).

Florida State will play with Georgia and Minnesota in the final round of the event.  The trio of Seminoles, Bulldogs and Gophers will tee off beginning at 10:50 ET from hole No. 10.
