TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 9 Florida State Seminoles (10-2, 7-1 ACC) held their final practice before breaking for Christmas on Saturday morning. FSU worked out at 9:00 a.m. for 12 periods, continuing to prepare for its New Year’s Day match-up with No. 10 Miami (10-2, 6-1 Big East). Practice was spent with work against Hurricane scout temas. The team will resume preparations in Miami on Friday, December 26th.
“They (the team) voted on the captains this morning and it will be the same ones we had during the season,” said head coach Bobby Bowden. “They won pretty high, (Michael) Boulware – defense, Greg (Jones) – offense and Sawyer for the special teams.”
The Seminole are making their seventh trip to the Orange Bowl and are 3-3 in those games. This will be the first time that Florida State and Miami will meet in a postseason game. Head coach Bobby Bowden will be looking for his 19th bowl victory, which would put him one behind Penn State’s Joe Paterno’s record of 20 bowl wins.
The Orange Bowl is set for an 8:30 p.m. kickoff on January 1st. The game will be televised by ABC.
