Florida State Men’s and Women’s Tennis Prepare for Gator Invasion on Friday February 9th
FSU Men’s and Women’s Tennis set to host University of Florida on Girls & Women In Sports Day.

TALLAHASSEE, FL–The Florida State men’s and women’s tennis teams will play the University of Florida Gators Friday February 9th at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center. The action starts at 4:00 p.m. with the women’s match and the men will take on the Gators at 5:30 p.m.

The FSU women’s team heads into action ranked 30th in the nation with a current record of 2-1, while No. 4 Florida will open their spring season against the Lady Seminoles. After a tough loss to 71st-ranked Alabama last weekend, the Lady Seminoles are looking to bounce back against their biggest rival.

“The good thing about Florida is that the girls get so fired up to play them,” said Florida State head coach Lise Gregory. “I know they were definitely feeling pretty down after that Alabama match. I’m not going to have to do much to get them motivated this week.”

The No. 55 Florida State men’s tennis team is set to host the University of Floridamen’s team who is 2-0 and ranked 9th in the country. FSU is 2-1 overall this season and trails the Gators in the all-time series 19-40.

FSU heads into action after a home win vs. Georgia Southern, 6-1. The Seminoles will definitely have to step it up a notch this weekend, but they are willing and ready.

“Anytime you’re playing one of your school’s rivals it becomes an important match,” said FSU head coach Dwayne Hultquist. “Whether playing Florida or Miami it seems everyone wants to know about it more so than other matches. It’s going to be a big match just as important as any conference match would be.”

After Friday’s match both the men’s and women’s tennis teams will go on the road. The men travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala. for a match against No. 49 Alabama on Sunday, February 11th while the women take on No. 49 Tulane in New Orleans, on Monday, February 12th and No. 21 LSU in Baton Rouge, on Sunday, February 11th.
