Florida State Men’s Cross Country Team Brings New Talent For Next Season

Feb. 17, 2009

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State men’s cross country team will welcome Wesley Rickman (Falcon, Colo.) to Tallahassee for the 2009 season. Although Rickman is head coach Bob Braman’s lone 2009 recruit to date, he is one of the nation’s most sought after student-athletes.

Rickman was named to the 2008 Boys All-State Cross Country 4A First Team and at the Colorado State Cross Country Championship, he was runner-up in the 5000m run with 15:29.50. As a junior in 2008, Rickman grabbed second place at the Colorado 4A-5A State Track and Field Meet in the 1600m with a time of 4:16.94, setting a new personal best. Rickman also set a new personal record of 2:41.76 by winning the 1000m at the 2009 USATF Colorado Indoor All-Comer Meet. As the top-returning 2 mile runner in the country with a time of 9:00.38, Rickman will look to surpass the 2008 success and lead Florida State to a higher level of excellence.

“We are really excited to sign Wesley,” Braman said. “As many times as you can sign a number one recruit in the country in any event, it is a big help to both our cross country and track and field teams.”
