Florida State Men’s Golf Team In Sixth Place At Gator Invitational

The Florida State men’s golf team is in a tie for sixth place after the first round of the Gator Invitational at the University of Florida Golf Course. The event began Saturday with 36 holes of the 54-hole event being played on day one. The 15-team field began second round play upon completion of the first 18 holes and are scheduled to finish the event Sunday.

Senior Rick Westbrook (Alto, Ga.) and freshman Eric Beaty (Germantown, Tenn.) led the Seminoles during round one with identical one-over par scores of 71. The pair is tied for 14th in the individual standings after round one. Junior Peter Mitchell (Miami, Fla.) is in a tie for 18th place with a two over par score of 72 while sophomore Brad Lusenhop (Gloversville, N.Y.) is tied for 51st and sophomore Alan Beers (Midlothian, Va.) is tied for 69th place.

The Seminoles are tied with the University of Alabama for 6th place in the team standings with a 289 score. The University of Alabama at Birmingham leads the team standings with a 274 score.
