Florida State Ready For River City Showdown With Alabama

Sept. 27, 2007

Tallahassee, Fla.After two weeks of build-up and waiting, the Seminoles are inching closer to their date with Alabama. One of the most anticipated regular season games in recent memory is now just a couple of days away. The Florida State football team finished its preparations for the game with Alabama with a 15 period practice on Thursday. The team was in shorts and spent the majority of the day once again working versus the scout teams. FSU will board the buses and depart for Jacksonville Friday afternoon. The game with the 22nd-ranked Crimson Tide (3-1) will be broadcast to a national TV audience on CBS.

Head Coach Bobby Bowden

On the hype before the game:

“I think it will be a very interesting football game. Two teams with great tradition that haven’t played each other in many, many years. You can just tell by the reaction of the tickets that are sold it’s really a popular game.”

On how Alabama could respond with a chip on their shoulder:

“They could respond that way, a lot of teams do. Sometimes coming off of a win you might catch them a little bit flat the next week. Sometimes coming off of a loss they get more determined, you just don’t know how they will respond.”

RV Myron Rolle:

On how practice has prepared the team for two weeks:

“Practices have been good preparing. We have had two weeks, so to say, to get ready for Alabama. Going over their offensive sets and their schemes has really helped us mentally get ready for what they are going to do to us on Saturday.”

On how the team is excited to get back on the field:

“Bye weeks are usually hard; you’re just sitting around watching other teams play. Now it is our turn. I think we’re rested; for the most part guys have heeled up. Andre Fluellen is looking pretty good out there. We got some of the kinks out of us. We’re just excited to get back on the field, especially playing in Jacksonville; it is going to be awesome.”

NT Paul Griffin:

On how the past two weeks have prepared the team:

“The last two weeks have been pretty good. Coming out here and everybody on the team works hard so we can get on that national stage. We just try our best to come out, play hard every week and get back up there on top.”

On starting against Alabama:

“I’m very excited, our whole defense is pumped up and everybody is ready to go. We’ve been waiting on this all season so far. Alabama been talking about how they are, we are just gonna go out and show how good the ACC really is.”

On the confidence level of the team:

“I’m very confident with the players we’ve got, we can play full speed every single down. We are going to continue to play hard and we are going to do great. I think it is going to be a good battle, we are just waiting on seeing how everything is going to go and ready to roll”
