The Florida State Universities Scott Speicher Tennis Center will host two main events come January. Jan.4-6th will be a pre-qualifying tournament, and Jan. 7-14th will be the Tallahassee Women’s Satellite /USTA Tennis Classic: a women’s professional tennis futures event. The Tallahassee Women’s Tennis Satellite Tennis Championships is the only women’s professional tennis event held annually in Tallahassee.

The pre-qualifying tournament to be held Jan. 4-6th will be a 32 player singles pre-qualifying draw. The winner will receive a spot in the qualifying draw of the pro-am tournament to begin Jan. 7th. The entry fee to participate in this event is $20 for singles and $20 per doubles team. The deadline to enter is December 10, 2000. Please send an entry form and the entry fee to:

The Tallahassee Women’s Satellite/USTA Tennis Classic will begin on Jan. 7th with a 64 player qualifier, including two wild cards. The top qualifiers will then be invited to participate in the main draw along with two wild card spots. Players from all over the world, including several former top 50 players and some of the top doubles players in the world, will be signing up along with area residents.

A Pro-am tennis round robin will be featured Monday, January 9th. This event will put local amateurs paired with a touring pro against another team in a round robin doubles format. The main draw will begin on Tuesday, January 9th, and will include a 32-player singles draw and a 16 doubles team draw. The finals for both the singles and doubles will be on Sunday, January 14th.
