TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State women’s basketball head coach Sue Semrau announced the signing of Georgia all-state forward Gabrielle Bevillard on Thursday.

A 6-3 inside-outside forward from Oconee County High School in Bishop, Ga., Bevillard is ranked the 33rd-best player in the country by National Basketball Insider and a three-star prospect by ESPN HoopGurlz. She was the first commitment to the Seminoles in this current signing class.

“Gabby brings a great deal to our program,” Semrau said. “She has a great basketball IQ and is a skilled basketball player. She loves the game and she loves Florida State. Her enthusiasm is infectious. After being slowed by a knee injury last spring, her work ethic and determination are more apparent than ever. We can’t wait to get her on campus this summer.”

Bevillard averaged 17 points, 12.2 rebounds and 5.0 blocks per game as a junior in 2011-12, leading Oconee to a 23-7 record and the Class AAA Georgia state tournament for the first time in over a dozen years. She had a double-double in 26 of 30 games.

Bevillard was named the All-Northeast Georgia Girls Basketball Player of the Year by the Athens Banner-Herald.

She also captured Player of the Year for Region 8-AAA South and earned first-team All-Class AAA honors for the second consecutive year after earning honorable mention honors as a freshman. Bevillard has scored over 1,000 points in her career.

Bevillard is the fourth member of Florida State’s vaunted signing class, joining three other Top 100 recruits – Fort Walton Beach guard Brittany Brown, Palm Beach Gardens center Kai James and Macon, Ga., forward Ivey Slaughter.
