Florida State Snaps Four-Game Skid, Beats Jacksonville 75-61

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) – Mike Mathews scored 14 points as Florida State beat
Jacksonville 75-61 on Saturday.

Florida St. (2-7) scored 12 straight points in the middle of the second half
to break open the game. Jacksonville was previously unbeaten.

Antwuan Dixon and Monte Cummings scored 13 points each for Florida St.
Delvon Arrington had 11 and Michael Joiner added 10.

Guard Shawn Platts led Jacksonville with 17 points, including 13 in the
first half. Brandon Williams scored 12 and Kris Hunter added 12.

Jacksonville (7-1) led at halftime 36-33.

Florida St. was trailing 42-40 with 15:27 left when it started its 12-point
run with a 3-point shot by Arrington. Jacksonville didn’t draw closer than six
points the rest of the game.

The win snapped a four-game losing streak for the Seminoles.
