Tallahassee, Fla.- Florida State varsity tennis will be hosting its second annual pro-am tennis tournament on November 30th from 5:30 to 8:30 pm at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center to benefit a program called Door of Hope.
The Door of Hope complex houses 166 people on the south-side of Tallahassee, 102 of them being children. Many of the complex’s residents are single mothers. Some of the programs offered at the complex are: after-school programs, literacy training, health and nutrition classes, home buyer seminars, computer labs, an employment program and day care.
The event will be a pro-am, round robin style tournament (each participant will be paired with an FSU or Florida A&M tennis player, getting the chance to play with different athletes throughout the event). The fee to enter this event is $100, which includes dinner and a T-shirt.
Last year’s event raised nearly $1,800 for a community in Mississippi that was greatly affected by Hurricane Katrina.
