Florida State Tennis Teams To Be Honored In Ceremonial Torch Lighting, Tonight At 8:00 p.m.

Florida State men’s and women’s tennis teams will be honored with a lighting of the torch at the “Unconquered” statue on Thursday, May 3 at 8:00 p.m. for their participation in the 2007 NCAA Tennis Championships. Fans are invited to join the FSU tennis teams in this special ceremony located in front of University Center B on Florida State’s campus.

No. 16 Florida State men’s tennis team (16-9, 8-6 ACC) is led by head coach Dwayne Hultquist who enters his fifth consecutive NCAA Championships. In 2005, FSU men’s tennis made program history as they reached the elite eight while the Seminoles fell short in 2006 to Ole Miss in round two of the regionals.

No. 17 Florida State women’s tennis team (15-7, 8-5 ACC) last competed in the NCAA tournament in 2005 during head coach Jennifer Hyde’s debut season where the Seminoles fell to Florida International in round one of regionals. Coach Hyde and her team will be traveling to Los Angeles, California on May 11 for the NCAA Regionals hosted by UCLA.

On May 11 and 12, Florida State men’s tennis team will host the 2007 NCAA Regionals at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center in Tallahassee, Fla. Tickets are available for purchase at the Seminole Athletic Ticket Office. To pre-order tickets call 64-GOFSU (644-6378) or 644-1830 to purchase NCAA Regionals Day Passes.

Ticket prices are as follows:

ADULT – $5.00
STUDENT (w/ID) – $3.00
CHILDREN (18 & under) – $3.00
CHILDREN (Under 2yrs old) – Free

Day passes included entrance for both of Friday’s (May 11) matches at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., while an additional day pass must be purchased for Saturday’s (May 12) match at 1:00 p.m. A limited number of tickets are available for purchase, so pre-order your tickets for both days while they last!

Friday, May 11-
10:00 a.m. – Florida State vs. Manhattan
1:00 p.m. – Florida vs. Georgia Tech

Saturday, May 12 –
1:00 p.m. – Florida State or Manhattan vs. Florida or Georgia Tech
