TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –
The Seminoles were defeated by the Clemson Tigers Saturday night by a score of 3-1 (30-24, 28-30, 28-30, 26-30). After posting a perfect record at home going into the weekend, Florida State dropped two matches to Georgia Tech and Clemson to give the Seminoles an overall record of 18-10 and a conference record of 9-5. The Tigers improve to 16-13, 7-7 in the ACC.
Senior outside hitter Alex Sevillano led the way for the Seminoles in the loss with 22 kills, nine digs, two service aces and a hitting percentage of .262. Middle hitter Dawn Hough played well against the Tigers, as she recorded 17 kills, one service ace, three digs, one solo block and a team-high hitting percentage of .536. Kristin Frye had 15 kills, two service aces, nine digs and a hitting percentage of .313 for the Seminoles. Senior outside hitter Erica Bunch notched 11 kills and five digs. Junior setter Jennifer Anderson had a team-high 63 assists on the evening.
Junior Marija Zoric led the way for the Tigers, as she recorded 14 kills, two service aces, five block assists and hit .591 on the evening. Sophomore Leslie Finn had 20 kills, two service aces, five digs, one solo block, two block assists and hit .277 for the Tigers. Lori Ashton looked strong against the Seminoles, as she had 13 kills and hit .280. Senior Jessi Betcher notched a team-high 55 assists on the evening. Betcher also had two service aces and five digs for the Tigers.
The Seminoles will travel to North Carolina next weekend to face the NC State Wolfpack and the North Carolina Tar Heels. Both matches are scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
