Florida State Volleyball To Kick Off The 2002 Season With Scrimmage
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State volleyball team has been working hard in the off-season in preparation for a rigorous 2002 schedule. On Thursday, August 22nd, the Seminoles will take to the court in a scrimmage, which will allow the team to display their talent. The 15-member squad will split into two teams and begin play at 6:00 p.m. at Tully Gymnasium. The scrimmage will be open to the public.

“I am looking forward to the scrimmage,” said head coach Todd Kress. “I have seen how our players respond in practice, but this will allow me to evaluate their competitiveness in a game-type situation.”

Since returning to practice on Friday, August 9th, the players have been working hard to learn new concepts, which Kress has implemented within his program. Although the transition has been challenging for the Seminoles, the squad has been working hard to raise the bar and return to championship prominence in the ACC.

“The team is working very hard right now to learn new concepts that coach has brought to this program,” said junior setter Jen Anderson. “Everyone seems to be very focused and disciplined.”

The Seminoles will have another week of practice before they travel to Normal, Illinois to participate in the Illinois State Tournament, which is set to begin on Friday, August 30th. Florida State will be joined by host-team Illinois State, Alabama and Marshall.
