Tallahassee, Fla. – The Florida State women’s tennis team added two talented tennis players to the program yesterday Nov. 13. Alice Amendola from Rome, Italy and Lara Schneider from Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina have officially signed their National Letters of Intent to play for the Florida State women’s tennis team.
“We are so excited to welcome both Alice and Lara to our Florida State Women’s Tennis family, with Alice arriving in January 2020, and Lara joining us next August 2020,” said head coach Jennifer Hyde. “Both Alice and Lara have extensive competitive playing backgrounds and are both a very solid fit for our programs culture.”
Amendola, one of the top four players in Italy, will be joining the Noles this January for the 2020 spring season. She has played on the Women’s Tennis Association tour, competed in the Australian open, and was an Italian National Championship finalist. With her experience, Amendola has a career-high ranking of No. 110 in the world and is looking to make an immediate impact on the team
Five-star recruit, Lara Schneider, will be joining the women’s tennis team in August 2020. The Mt. Pleasant native has a career-high ranking of No. 31 nationally and is ranked second in the state of South Carolina. Schneider is a highly talented prospect as the No. 30 recruit in the country and is currently ranked No. 18 in the tennis RPI.
“Not only are Alice and Lara high level competitors, but they also bring a standard of academic excellence that has become a cornerstone of our Women’s Tennis program,” said Hyde. “We are so excited to welcome both of them and their families to our Florida State family. Big things are ahead for both of these young ladies.”
