Florida State’s Chris Hope Repeats As First Team Academic All-American

Dec. 10, 2001

Florida State senior free safety Chris Hope was announced Monday as a first team Academic All-American. Hope, who was a first team selection as a junior last year, has a 3.71 gpa and a double major in communications and sociology.

“My academics are as important to me as the success on the football field,” said Hope who was traveling to New York on Monday to receive a $15,000 postgraduate scholarship given by the National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame. “I am pleased with this honor and I am even more pleased with my college degree. Football will not be there forever, but your education will.”

Hope was named first team All-ACC last week and has started 24 consecutive games for the Seminoles at free safety.
