Florida State’s White-Stokes Claims Fifth And Sixth Honor In Two Weeks

Jen White-Stokes is in the midst of an amazing April and it just keeps getting better for the Seminole senior from Tuttle, OK. For the third straight week, White-Stokes has been honored by the ACC as she was named ACC Player of the Week for the second time this season. She also recorded her second straight South Atlantic Softball Alliance (SASA) honor as she was also named SASA Player of the Week. This is the fifth and sixth honor for the pitcher/designated player this month. She was named ACC Player of the Week April 2, an NFCA Outstanding Performer April 4, ACC and SASA Pitcher of the Week April 9 and ACC Player of the Week this week.

White-Stokes started all three games for the Seminoles as FSU posted a 3-0 record and outscored its opponents 22-3. White-Stokes hit .500 with two doubles, a homerun and four RBI. She slugged 1.000 and recorded 10 total bases for the week. She hit .667 with runners on base, .600 with runners in scoring position and she advanced runners successfully 67% of the time. White-Stokes also hit 1.000 with two outs and recorded three two-out RBI in the three games.

White-Stokes started the Seminoles off on the right foot against Florida A&M last Wednesday when she was hit by a pitch and then came around to score the game’s first run. She then lined a double to right field in the fifth inning to record her 20th RBI of the year. White-Stokes also scored the final run of the game when she walked in the seventh and then came around to score the final run. In game one of Saturday’s doubleheader with Jacksonville State, White-Stokes was one of only six Seminoles to get a hit off of freshman Tera Ross when she recorded her ninth double of the season and second of the weekend. In game two, White-Stokes recorded two hits in the fifth. She recorded the second hit of the inning when she singled to center and then got the last hit of the inning when she blasted a three-run homer to put FSU up 12-2. White-Stokes also got the win in the second game to raise her record to 15-2 on the season.

The Seminoles return to action this evening when they return home for the first time since March 28 and wrap-up their season series with Florida A&M. Florida State then heads to Gainesville for a doubleheader with the Gators. The first game is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. and will be broadcast live on the Sunshine Network. FSU then returns to alliance play when they play SASA member East Carolina in doubleheader action Saturday, April 21 at the Seminole Softball Complex. Game times for Saturday’s doubleheader are 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
