TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – The fourth-seeded Florida State Men’s Golf team begins its NCAA postseason run when it participates in regional play beginning Monday, May 14, at Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club in Norman, Okla.
Redshirt senior Harry Ellis, juniors Bennett Baker and Corey Carlson, sophomore Jamie Li and freshman John Pak lead the Seminoles as they tee off at 9 a.m. ET. Carlson leads things off, followed by Baker (9:11), Li (9:22), Pak (9:33) and Ellis (9:44).
Florida State is playing in its 13th consecutive NCA Regional, and a Top 5 finish in the Norman Regional would allow FSU to extend its longest active ACC streak of seven consecutive NCAA Championship Finals appearances.
The Seminoles are in a 14-team regional that goes from May 14-16. Other teams in the regional include No. 1 seed Oklahoma, No. 2 Auburn, No. 3 Arkansas, No. 5 UNF, No. 6 Pepperdine, No. 7 BYU, eighth-seeded Virginia, No. 9 San Diego State, No. 10 Nevada, Sam Houston State (11), UMKC (12), Navy (13) and Prairie View A&M (14).
Last week, Pak became the fourth Seminole to win ACC Freshman of the Year, and he also earned a spot on the All-ACC Team. The freshman has led FSU all year, with his 70.50 scoring average leading the team while sitting as the second lowest year-long average in program history.
Ellis also earned a spot on the All-ACC Team, becoming the 10th Seminole to earn multiple All-ACC Team honors. The upcoming U.S. Open participant leads FSU with two victories this year, and he also owns three Top 10 finishes.
Baker has played the best of any Seminoles as of late, owning Top 10 finishes in his last two tournaments. The Tallahassee native placed eighth at 9-under at the ACC Championship, and tied for sixth at 6-under at the Gary Koch Invitational on April 9-10.
