GREENSBORO, N.C. – The No. 14 Seminoles will have 10 swims in tonight’s finals at the ACC Swimming and Diving Championships at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
Sophomore Izaak Bastian will compete in the A final of the 100 breast before senior Griffin Alaniz swims in the championship heat of the 100 back. Bastian was eighth at 53.05 while Alaniz placed seventh at 46.30 in prelims for seventh.
Freshman Nevada Wood will join Bastian in the finals of the 100 breast after clocking a 54.27 for 21st and a spot in the C final.
The Seminoles will have five swimmers back in the 200 free, led by freshman Peter Varjasi in the consolation heat. He swam a time of 1:35.02 in prelims for 11th. The bonus heat will feature senior Vladimir Stefanik (10. 1:35.65), freshman Aziz Ghaffari (21.1:36.04), sophomore Jakub Ksiazek (22. 1:36.16) and senior Rudo Loock (23. 1:36.20).
Freshman Nick Vance (3:52.18) will swim in the C final after placing 21st in the 400 IM and sophomore Max McCusker will lead off the session as the top seed in the consolation heat of the 100 fly at posting a 46.23 this morning, which was a personal best.
The session will end with the 400 medley relay.
Finals will start at 6 p.m., which will air on the ACC Network Extra with Dave Armstrong and legendary swimming analyst Rowdy Gaines on the call.
