FSU Baseball To Hold Garnet & Gold Game

Tallahassee, FL –
The Florida State baseball team will hold
it’s annual fall baseball scrimmage on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. at Dick
Howser Stadium. Admission is free, with donations and all concession
sales going directly to the Dick Howser Center for Children.

FSU returns six of eight position starters, including
All-American outfielder John-Ford Griffin, from a team that advanced to
the “final four” of the 2000 College World Series. Sophomores Robby
Read and Matt Lynch are expected to take over for Jon McDonald and Mike
Ziegler (who signed Major League contracts) on the mound along with
returning junior Blair Varnes.

Former Seminoles will take part in another Homecoming tradition
on Saturday when the FSU baseball team plays the alumni game Saturday at
2:00 p.m. There is no charge for admission on Saturday.

The 2001 baseball season opens on Saturday, February 3rd when
Western Kentucky visits Tallahassee.
