FSU Captures Three Weekly Honors

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.  – The nationally-ranked Florida State swimming and diving teams picked up three weekly honors, which were announced by the conference on Tuesday. Senior Pavel Sankovich was named the ACC Male Swimmer of the Week, while senior Mikey Lewark and redshirt junior Katrina Young were named at the Divers of the Week.

Sankovich earned his second weekly recognition of the year after he recorded four first-place finishes in the win over Florida Atlantic on Friday.  Individually, Sankovich clocked a 1:46.27 in the 200 fly before swimming a time of 1:50.64 in the 200 IM. The Hronda, Belarus native also led off the 200 medley relay with a split of 21.77, before capping off the day by starting off the 200 free relay with a split of 21.17.

“It was great to swim some different races,” Sankovich said. “I felt pretty fast along with my teammates. We are all doing really well right now and we can’t wait for ACC’s.”

Lewark captured his first-career ACC Male Diver of the Week nod after posting his best score of 410.40 on 3-meter en route to a first place finish in the event.  It was the first time in his career that Lewark broke the 400-point barrier. On 1-meter, Lewark placed second with a score of 323.93 behind his teammate Tom Neubacher.

“We were doing it big on Friday,” Lewark said. “Everyone dove incredible and it was a lot of fun to be a part of it. I know we can perform that well at the end of the season, so I can’t wait.”

Young earns her second Female Diver of the Week honor after winning 1-meter by a tally of 317.03 after placing second on 3-meter with a score of 306.30.

“I’m very grateful to be part of such a supportive school and team,” Young said. “I’m really looking forward to our future.  I think we can all accomplish something really special at the end of the year.”

The Seminoles have amassed 13 weekly accolades throughout the season which is the most in the ACC this year.
