FSU Cheerleaders Place Second in Nation

DAYTONA BEACH, FL — At the National Cheereaders Association Championships, the Florida State cheerleading team finished as national runners-up. It marked the best finish in school history for the cheerleading squad while. Louisville claimed top honors for the sixth time in the 90’s. Over 100,000 performers and spectators attended the function with 150 cheerleading and dance squads competing.

“It was an outstanding performance by the entire team,” said head cheerleading coach Jennifer Jarrett. “They pulled off a nearly flawless routine from beginning to end. We have come a long way this year and had to deal with some unfortunate experiences. I am very proud of this year’s squad. Our team got the crowd involved and that was a big difference in the scoring. We finished our last routine as the crowd favorite with a standing ovation.”

The FSU Golden Girls also fared well as they placed 6th overall in their first year in the Division IA dance competition. Brigham Young finishd first in the team standings.

The event will be aired by CBS on April 19th from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. EST.
