Jan. 19, 2001

TALLAHASSEE, FL.– The Florida State men’s tennis team begins spring action Saturday January 20th at Penn State’s Sarni Tennis Center. FSU will begin play at noon vs. the Nittany Lions and then at 6:00 p.m. the Seminoles will face West Virginia. The men’s team heads into spring play ranked 42nd in Division I, four places higher than last seasons final ranking. In the regional rankings, the men’s team is in eighth place out of the 16-team field.

This will mark this first time Penn State and FSU have ever met in dual match play and it will be the fifth meeting between West Virginia and the Noles. Florida State leads the all-time series against the Mountaineers 4-0.

As FSU heads into action at Penn State, two newcomers will have their first opportunity to show what they have to offer. Newly signed Gustav Bucht, from Lund, Sweden, and Bartosz Koldej from Warsaw, Poland will play in their first matches for Florida State on Saturday against Penn State. Both are transfers from Georgia Perimeter and bring experience and age to a young Seminole team.

Play will begin at 12:00 p.m. Saturday January 20th against Penn State with the West Virginia match to follow at 6:00 p.m.
