CHICAGO – Florida State women’s basketball signee Kai James will play in the 2013 McDonald’s All-American Game on Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET at the United Center.

The game will air live on ESPNU and James will wear No. 0 for the 12-member East squad.

The 6-6 post from Dwyer High School (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) averaged a double-double (10.0 points and 11.6 rebounds per game) this season for Dwyer and had a 29-point, 25-rebound effort on Dec. 28 against Dreher (S.C.) High School. She finished third in voting for Florida’s Class 8A Miss Basketball Award.

She is a consensus Top-25-ranked recruit and the No. 3 center in the 2013 signing class according to ESPN HoopGurlz. James won a gold medal with Team USA at the 2012 World U17 Championship in Amsterdam in the summer and was a Florida Association of Basketball Coaches Class 8A All-State selection the past two years.

James joins Gabrielle Bevillard (Bishop, Ga.), Brittany Brown (Fort Walton Beach, Fla.) and Ivey Slaughter (Macon, Ga.) to make up Florida State’s 2013 class, which is ranked No. 7 in the nation by All Star Girls Report, No. 11 by Blue Star Basketball and No. 12 by Collegiate Girls Report.

James’ appearance in the all-star game will give FSU three McDonald’s All-American alumnae to suit up next season as current Seminoles, Natasha Howard and Morgan Jones, also appeared in the contest.
