TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The NCAA announced on Monday, May 26 the field of 64 for the 2014 NCAA Baseball Championship. Florida State earned an at-large bid out of the Atlantic Coast Conference after finishing the regular season with a record of 43-15 and winners of the ACC Atlantic Division for the eighth year in a row.

“It’s the time of year that all of us are excited to begin,” Florida State head coach Mike Martin said. “We started last August with one goal in mind, now we have an opportunity and it’s up to us to see how we handle it. I am very excited about the regional; it’s a very difficult regional.”

The Seminoles, who earned the No. 5 overall national seed, will serve as the No. 1 seed in the Tallahassee Regional and will be joined by No. 2 Alabama (34-22), No. 3 Kennesaw State (37-21) and No. 4 Georgia Southern (39-21). Play begins on Friday, May 30.

Florida State is making its 37th consecutive appearance in the NCAA Baseball Tournament and 52nd overall including 35 straight appearances under Martin. The Seminoles have posted an overall record of 177-115 in NCAA Tournament play.

Alabama received an at-large bid into the tournament out of the Southeastern Conference and is the No. 2 seed in this week’s regional. The Crimson Tide finished the regular season in fifth place in the SEC West Division. Alabama wrapped up the regular season with a record of 34-22 and 15-14 in the SEC. Florida State and Alabama have met on nine previous occasions including six times in the NCAA Tournament. FSU leads the all-time series 7-2 as the two schools last met twice in the 2011 Tallahassee Regional.

Kennesaw State, winners of the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship, earned the No. 3 seed in the Tallahassee Regional. Kennesaw State finished the regular season with an overall record of 37-21 and 17-9 in the Atlantic Sun. The Owls selection to the tournament is their first at the Division I level. The Seminoles and Owls have never met.

Georgia Southern completes this year’s four-team field earning the No. 4 seed in the Tallahassee Regional. The Eagles finished the regular season with a record of 39-21 and received an automatic bid by virtue of winning the Southern Conference Championship. Florida State and Georgia Southern have met 105 times before with the Seminoles leading the all-time series at 76-29. The two schools have not met since 1985.

“Georgia Southern, I’m familiar with although it’s been awhile since we played them,” added Martin. “I have kept up with their program (over the years) and they have done an excellent job. This is setting up to be a very exciting weekend.”

Every game of the Tallahassee Regional will air live on ESPN3.

The Tallahassee Regional is paired up with the Louisville, Kentucky Regional as the winners from both regional sites will square-off in a best-of-three series beginning on either Friday, June 6 or Saturday, June 7. The four schools competing in the Louisville Regional include Louisville (45-15), Kentucky (35-23), Kansas (34-24) and Kent State (36-21).

All-Tournament Books for the 2014 NCAA Baseball Tallahassee Regional ($50 for reserved seats and $35 for general admission seats) will go on-sale to the public at 5pm EST on Monday, May 26 at Phone and walk-up orders begin at 8:30am on Tuesday morning by calling 888-378-6653 or visiting the main Seminole Ticket Office located at Doak Campbell Stadium, University Center C.

Single game tickets for the Friday sessions ONLY will go on sale via the web ( beginning at 8:00 a.m. Friday. In person and phone sales of single game tickets for Friday’s games will begin at 8:30 a.m. Friday. Single game tickets for games on subsequent days will go on sale on the web following the last game of the previous day and at Dick Howser Stadium two hours prior to the start of the first game.

Prices for single game general admission tickets are $10.00 for adults and $6.00 for youth (ages 4-18). If available, reserved seats single game tickets are $15.00.
