TALLAHASSEE, FL.–Two Florida State women’s tennis players received honors from the Atlantic Coast Conference this month. Christina Denny was named ACC Player of the Week on March 12, 2001, while Alida Gallovits was honored on March 19, 2001.

Denny, a freshman from Canton, Ohio, won three matches in the week leading up to the nomination, including a win over then 48th-ranked Paola Palencia of Pepperdine.

Gallovits, a junior from Romania, has been Florida State’s number one player for the past three years, and is currently ranked No. 48 by the ITA in singles. Gallovits defeated Penka Fileva of Loyola Marymount and San Diego State’s Silvia Tornier, helping her team to victories on the road, as well as earning herself ACC Player of the Week honors.
