TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State sophomore outfielder/DH Eddy Martinez-Esteve was named a first team Collegiate Baseball All-American Thursday afternoon while junior shortstop Stephen Drew was listed as a third team All-American by the publication. Martinez-Esteve was the only ACC player named to the first team. Drew has earned All-America honors in each of his three years as a Seminole.
Martinez-Esteve led the ACC in batting average (.401), home runs (19) and RBI (78) and was named to the ACC All-Tournament team in helping FSU win the championship. Drew, who is expected to be one of the top players taken in Monday’s MLB Draft, hit .353 with 14 homers and 52 RBI this season. He was also voted to the ACC All-Tournament team.
Florida State opens play in the NCAA Regional in Tallahassee Friday at 7:00 p.m. against Bethune-Cookman. The regional also includes second-seeded Oklahoma State and third-seeded UCF.
