Greensboro, NC – Florida State’s Giulia Pairone has been named the ACC Women’s Tennis Co-Player of the Week. Pairone posted a 3-1 record last week defeating two top 125 players in singles as the Seminoles won two key conference matches on the road.
The Turin, Italy native started the weekend with a win in doubles and then went on to defeat the No. 76 player in the ITA rankings as she recorded a 6-1, 6-4 straight-set victory to help FSU defeat BC 4-3. Next up was another straight-set win in singles versus the 121st-ranked player in the nation. Pairone won her singles match Sunday 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) helping FSU roll to a 7-0 win over No. 50 Syracuse.
Pairone is now 6-4 versus nationally-ranked opponents and 8-5 as the Seminoles. No. 1 player. The redshirt-senior has played on line one for FSU in all 14 matches this season and has a record of 8-5 in singles. All but three of her singles matches have been against top 125 competition.
The Seminoles return home for two ACC matches this weekend. Louisville heads to the Scott Speicher Memorial Tennis Center for a 4:00 p.m. match Friday. Then Notre Dame will be in Tallahassee for a 12:00 match Sunday.
