FSU’s Serita Brooks Named Louisville Slugger Second Team All-American

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — Florida State softball standout Serita
Brooks, a junior from Cottondale, Ala., has been named to the 2000
Louisville Slugger All-America second team, the National Fastpitch Coaches
Association released Thursday morning.

Brooks, who started all 78 games at center field for Florida State,
led the Lady Seminoles and the Atlantic Coast Conference with a .401
batting average. A first team all-Southeast Region selection, Brooks also
earned all-tournament team honors at the Los Angeles regional after batting
.317 with three RBI. She was the team leader in hits with 99, runs scored
with 54, triples with eight, stolen bases with 42 and at bats with 247. An
All-ACC selection, Brooks, whose 99 hits tied the FSU single-season record,
had 30 multi-hit games on the year and hit safely in 23 of the last 25
games of the season.

With the destinction, Brooks become the 18th Lady Seminole softball
player to earn All-America honors.
